Personal

Born and raised in Vancouver Canada, Dr. Louise Tolzmann has always used naturopathic medicine for her own health (and those of her many animals). She moved to Seattle to complete her doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine and then fell in love with Portland Oregon. With a strong family history of cancer, Dr. Louise Tolzmann is always looking to understand health and healing. She believes strongly in the mind-body connection, and the healing power of herbs, diet, and lifestyle. While she continues to explore genetics and the role of environmental toxins, Dr. Tolzmann tries to balance her work life with her family. She lives in Portland Oregon in an old farmhouse with her husband, 2 boys, cat, fish, cockatiel, many chickens, and bees.

Education

Dr. Tolzmann graduated from naturopathic medical school, Bastyr University, in 1997 and then completed a 2 year teaching residency at NCNM in Portland. Her practice shifted heavily to cancer in 2005 when she began working at Quest Center for Integrative Health with a Susan Komen grant. In 2009 she completed advanced training in integrative oncology through the Mederi Foundation of Ashland Oregon and in the spring of 2011 completed advanced certification in environmental medicine. (with Dr. Walter Crinnion). She continues to (study? Learn? Teach? Expand her knowledge through conferences & monthly tumor boards.In July 2010 Dr. Louise Tolzmann opened her clinic Yew Medicine with Dr. Ami Opal {link to her page} in the historic Mississippi neighborhood.
